Fear
Hi everybody, how are you doing?
I know this picture is sooo cute. But at the same time you can imagine how frightened this baby was just by looking at his facial expression. His heart was probably racing and he was about to cry. A feeling that is probably familiar to most of us.
Today's topic is "Fear", the first feeling that every human being gets right when he steps into this world. Hence why babies cry at birth. Before every other feeling. And it is our worst enemy.
I stumbled across a video on the internet that was showing people being beaten and burned alive under the assumption of practicing witchcraft. It was not the first time I watched that video, but as the first time I watched it, I was in total disbelief. How can one do this to a fellow human being? I was wondering what is wrong with people in this world . I had so many questions. Were they out of their minds? Is it ignorance? Or just evil?
And then one word came to my mind "fear", I began to realise how all of this was rooted in fear.
Fear is what drove those people to commit such a horrible crime, they were afraid to live with people they suspected of doing witchcraft in their community. So they figured that killing them is better than living with them and potentially being the target of that witchcraft.
Fear is what drives a girl/young woman to have an abortion because she is afraid of what people may say or the effect having a child as an unwed woman would have on her life.
Fear is what drives a young man to abandon his child because he is afraid of taking on the responsibility of being a father. Leaving his "baby mama" with the responsibility to be both father and mother.
Fear is the root of racism because one group of people is afraid of people who are different in complexion because of false stereotypes.
Fear is what prevents a woman struggling with domestic violence to seek help. Because she is afraid of what might happen if she does or what people may think of her.
Fear is what drives an assistant to accept her boss' advances because she is afraid of losing her Job.
Fear is what prevents a young entrepreneur to look for investors, or opening his/her business because he/she is afraid of being rejected or failing.
Fear is what prevents us from knowing the truth about the word of God because we are afraid to ask questions.
Fear, fear, fear, is the root of many issues the word and we as Christians face everyday. We sometimes get out of the will of God because we are afraid to live by faith.
I got news for you, God's got our back! 2 Timothy1:7 says:" For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." So next time Fear Strikes you respond by:" Not today satan, I know the truth."
The only thing fear is good for is the "Fear of God", fearing God prevents us from sinning and gets us out of precarious situations. Fearing God is what will prevent an employee from stealing on his Job because he knows God is watching and also that he does not want to ruin his witness,..etc. Fearing God gives peace of the heart and the mind as opposed to simple fear that steals one's joy, and causes mental and even physical issues.
Let us not lose opportunities, jobs, relationship, purpose because of fear. People may not always agree with what you do but hey! What law is there that says that everybody has to agree? If God is with you, no matter what, he will see you through each and every circumstance.
He is God, He is our father, he has our best interest, no matter the tests and trials do not be afraid, always rely on God.
